S'appuyant sur les sources écrites provenantes de la Mésopotamie ancienne, l'article essaie de déchiffrer le sens symbolique de l'"arche" salvatrice dans lequel l'héros mésopotamien et ses proches se sauverent dans le déluge universel. On arrive a la conclusion que l'"arche" mentionnée n'était qu'un modele de l'univers dans sa structure complexe tridimensionnelle, une sorte de microcosme (imago mundi) qui, la dévastation universelle une fois terminée, servait de médiateur de la restauration du macrocosme.

Based on written sources from ancient Mesopotamia, this article seeks to decipher the symbolic meaning of the rescue "ark", in which the Mesopotamian hero and his relatives saved themselves from the Deluge. The author arrives at the conclusion that the above mentioned "ark" is nothing other than a model of the universe in its complex and threedimensional structure. It represents some sorte of microcosm (imago mundi), which served after the universal devastation as the mediator of the restoration of themacrocosm.
