Evgenij Nikolaevič Prilepin (geb. 1975), bekannt unter seinem Künstlernamen Zachar Prilepin, ist Schriftsteller und gleichzeitig Mitglied von Ėduard Limonovs Nationalbolschewistischer Partei. Das Ziel der vorliegenden Studie besteht darin, die politischen, ideologischen und kulturellen Implikationen von Prilepins 2006 im bekannten Moskauer Ad Marginem-Verlag erschienenem Roman Sankya zu untersuchen. Das Buch wurde von so bekannten Vertretern der zeitgenössischen russischen Literatur wie Vladimir Sorokin, Viktor Pelevin, Dmitry Bykov und Lyudmila Ulickaja als eine der interessantesten literarischen Neuerscheinungen der letzten Jahre anerkannt. Der Roman wirft ein Licht auf das „politische Bewusstsein” einer Gruppe von jungen Menschen im postsowjetischen Russland, die ihre existentielle, moralische und intellektuelle Orientierung verloren haben. Obgleich sie der postsowjetischen Generation angehören, erfahren sie den Kollaps des Sowjetimperiums als traumatischen Verlust ihrer eigenen Wurzeln.

The aim of the paper is to investigate the political, ideological, and cultural implications of Prilepin's novel Sankya, published in 2006 by Ad Marginem in Moscow. The novel is about the „political awareness” of a group of young people in post-Soviet Russia, who lost their existential, moral, and intellectual sense of direction. Even though they belong to the post-Soviet generation, they perceive the collapse of the Soviet empire as a traumatic loss of their own roots. The protagonist of the novel, a young man named Sankya, to a certain extent an alter ego of Prilepin himself, lost his father - an incorrigible alcoholic and a typical exponent of the so-called Russian intelligentsia - when he was still a child. A feeling of hopelessness and existential insecurity leads him to join a radical political group called The Founders - an allusion to the above-mentioned National Bolshevik Party. The aim of the paper is to deconstruct the fundamental contradiction of the extreme patriotic discourse of The Founders. On the one hand, they call to action against the political and economic establishment of contemporary Russia, on the other hand, they reflect the political mentality of Putin's Russia.
