Among the large number of interest organisations and civic associations active in the Czech Republic, trade unions and organisations representing employers and businesses have a prominent position and permanent access to political decision-makers. They have a tremendous chance to influence the shape of public policies. Their importance has increased as a result of both, the accession of the Czech Republic to the European Union and their subsequent contributions to the European social dialogue. The chapter analyses their capacity to participate in the European social dialogue, their activity at the European level and its impact on their domestic policy.
