This book examines the problem of illegal waste shipment from Germany to the Czech Republic, where at least 30,000 tons of municipal solid waste has been transported improperly since 2005. Utilizing interviews with government officials and other documents and reports, the book examines waste management policies and practices in Germany, the Czech Republic, and the EU to understand the institutional factors that may have played a role in causing the illegal shipments.
