Diese Studie summiert die Geschichte der alchemischen Forschung in der Umgebung Kaiser Rudolfs II. (1552?1612) und beschäftigt sich mit der Entwicklung der alchemischen Tätigkeit in Böhmen im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert. Der damalige Aufschwung der Alchemiebot günstige Bedingungen dem Kaiser an, seine Interessen zu folgen und sein Mäzenat dazu anzuwenden. In der Arbeit sind die Alchemisten in drei Gruppen geteilt. Die erste sind solche, die als Hauptziel die Vorbereitung des Steins der Weisen sahen, der Substanz, die unedle Metalle in Silber oder Gold angeblich transmutieren konnte. Die zweite Gruppe zielte an medizinische Aspekte der Alchemie, auf die Suche nach universalem Heilmittel. Schließlich die letzte Gruppe waren Alchemisten, die die Vorbereitungdes Steins der Weisen, bzw. universalen Heilmittel als Mittel zur Erreichung philosophischen und mystischen Erleuchtung sahen.

This study sums up the history of alchemical research in the surroundings of the Emperor Rudolf II (1552?1612), and deals with the develepoment of alchemy in Bohemia in the 15th and 16th century. The bloom of alchemy of the time yielded suitable condition to the Emperor to follow his interests and to give support to this trend. In this work, alchemists are divided into three groups. The first one includes those who considered their goal the preparation of the Philosopher´s Stone, a substance allegedly able to transmute base metals into silver or gold. The alchemists of the second group focused their acttivity toward search for universal medicine. Eventually, the last group were alchemists who understood the preparation of the Philosopher´s Stone or unversal medicine as a way how to attain philosophical or mystical enlightenment.
