Vor 450 Jahren, am 17. Jänner 1567, hielt Erzherzog Ferdinand II. (1529–1595) seinen feierlichen Einzug in Innsbruck. Schloss Ambras Innsbruck nimmt dieses Jubiläum zum Anlass und widmet dem Tiroler Landesfürsten erstmal eine große Ausstellung. Der Habsburger war ein Regent, der als Sohn Kaiser Ferdinands I. einer der bedeutendsten europäischen Herrscherdynastien entstammte. Zunächst war er mit der Funktion des Statthalters im Königreich Böhmen betraut und residierte ab 1547 in Prag. In Innsbruck lenkte er dann rund 30 Jahre die Geschicke der Grafschaft Tirol und der Österreichischen Vorlande. Ferdinand II. entwickelte an den Orten seines politischen Wirkens eine ausgeprägte höfische Repräsentationskultur. Als humanistisch gebildeter Fürst trug er wesentlich zur Verbreitung der Renaissance in Mitteleuropa bei.

450 years ago, in 1567, Archduke Ferdinand II (1529-1595) made his solemn entry into Innsbruck. Schloss Ambras Innsbruck took this anniversary as an opportunity and dedicates a large exhibition to the Tyrolean sovereign. The Archduke, son of the Emperer Ferdinand I, was entrusted with the function of governor in the Kingdom of Bohemia and resided in Prague from 1547. In Innsbruck, he then directed the fortunes of the County of Tyrol and the Austrian foreland for about 30 years. He developed a distinctive courtly culture of representation in the places of his political activity. As a humanist educated prince, he contributed significantly to the spread of the Renaissance in Central Europe.
