En s'inspirant d'un exemple tiré de la région de Bohême, l'article examine comment les aristocrates d'Europe centrale utilisaient la photographie au milieu du XIXe siècle. À côté de l’histoire de la photographie, il est centré sur le contexte socioculturel et les analogies et différences entre le travail des peintres et des photographes des années 1850 et 1860.

Drawing on an example from the Bohemian region, the article examines how photography was used by aristocrats in Central Europe in the mid-19th century. Next to history of photography it centres around the sociocultural context on the one hand and analogies and differences between the work of painters and photographers of the 1850s and 1860s on the other hand.
