Der Text versucht, zeitliche hölzerne Heiligtümer zu analysieren, die über Katafalken errichtet wurden, die als castra doloris bekannt sind, wobei das castrum doloris Rudolfs II. im Veitsdom der Hauptgegenstand der Forschung ist, da sein Aussehen, seine Größe und seine Platzierung ungenau interpretiert worden sind. Der Text zeigt außerdem Vergleiche des castrum doloris Rudolfs mit dem castrum doloris Ferdinands II. von Österreich. Weiters wird untersucht, welcher Typus des castrum doloris sich für die Begräbnisfeierlichkeiten der Habsburger entwickelte.

The text seeks to analyse temporal wooden sanctuaries erected above catafalques known as castra doloris where Rudolf II’s castrum doloris in St Vitus Cathedral is the primary subject of research since its appearance, size, and placement have been interpreted inaccurately. The text further shows comparisons of Rudolf’s castrum doloris with the castrum doloris of Ferdinand II of Austria. Furthermore, it examines the certain type of castrum doloris that developed for the funeral festivities of the Habsburgs.
