Das neue Buch über Mozarts Oper „Idomeneo“ bietet mit Ausnützung bisher unbekannten Quellen eine umfassende Abhandlung dieser 1780/81 für München komponierten Oper, die heute als Schlüsselwerk in der Entwicklung des Opernkomponisten Mozart gilt. Es befasst sich mit der Entstehung der Oper, als auch mit ihrer Rezeption, in der auch Prag wichtige Rolle spielte. Gründliche musikalische Analysen einzelner Nummern sind dabei selbstverständlich.

The new book on Mozart's opera „Idomeneo“ provides a comprehensive treatise of this opera composed for Munich in 1780/81, which is considered a key work in the development of Mozart as an opera composer. It deals both with the origin of the opera, bringing a considerable number of hitherto unknown sources, and with its early reception, in which also Prague played an important role. Thorough musical analyzes of opera numbers are part of this book.
