Jahrhundert.

  • Popis výsledku anglicky

The study examines the serenata L’Endimione, performed during Maria Theresa’s visit to Prague at the beginning of September 1754. Analysis of the libretto has shown that the work was not an autonomous composition by Francesco Zoppis, as previously assumed, but rather a pasticcio assembled from arias drawn from the repertoires of the performing singers—Giovanna Astrua and Antonio Romani of the Berlin court opera, the castrato Angelo Maria Monticelli of the Dresden court opera, and the young castrato Giusto Fernando Tenducci, active in Vienna. Through specific examples, the study demonstrates the mobility of musical repertoire among European operatic centres and highlights the significant role of performers in the eighteenth century.
