Innovative CryoEM Workflow Development: An In-Depth Look at TESCAN and the Institute of Molecular Genetics Collaboration
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Academia and industry, while working toward shared goals, operate with different motivations, expertise, and resources. This complementary relationship fosters collaborative projects that benefit both sides.nWith this in mind, the Electron Microscopy Core Facility (EMCF) at the IMG in Prague, Czechia, and TESCAN, a leading electron microscope manufacturer from Brno, began collaborating in 2021 on the development and optimization of workflows for cryo-electron microscopy. As part of the partnership, the EMCF received TESCAN AMBER cryo FIB-SEM equipment, along with support from TESCAN engineers in processing relevant user projects. In return, TESCAN gained access to EMCF's other technologies, know-how, and feedback for both current and in-development solutions. Researchers from both organizations regularly visited each other's facilities, sharing expertise and working together to solve challenges. This led, among other achievements, to the joint development of advanced fluorescence-guided cryo-liftout workflow using TESCAN’s new innovative cryo nanomanipulator.nThe outcomes of this collaboration are accessible to the broader scientific community, either as services provided by the EMCF at IMG through Czech BioImaging or Euro-BioImaging research infrastructures, or as commercial products and improvements offered by TESCAN.
