Der Aufsatz befasst sich mit den Anfängen der modernen Poesie in den Böhmischen Ländern am Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts unter dem Gesichtspunkt der Rückbesinnung auf die “unterbrochene” Tradition der nationalen Barden. Sie beleuchtet die wechselnde Rolle von Michael Denis als Übersetzer von Ossian ins Deutsche für tschechisch- und deutschsprachige Schriftsteller aus den Böhmischen Ländern.

The study deals with the beginnings of modern poetry in the Bohemian lands at the end of the 18th century from the perspective of returns to the “interrupted” tradition of national bards. It highlights the changing initiatory role of Michael Denis as a translator of Ossian into German for Czech and German writers from the Bohemian lands.
