Metalepsis in Czech Literature
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The study deals with the phenomenon of metalepsis in the context of Czech literature from the Middle Ages to the 20th century. The narrative analysis of selected literary texts shows that the figure of addressing the addressee with a metaleptic effect has three main forms: 1) Addressing the addressee is part of the author's textual and communicative strategy (i.e. rhetorical metalepsis), 2) addressing the addressee is an integral part of the narrative and the play of fiction (i.e. ontological metalepsis), 3) addressing the addressee requires the addressee to perform various activities (i.e. performative metalepsis). The study uses specific examples to show the historical development and use of metalepsis in Czech literature, with special attention paid to the 19th century (K. H. Mácha, B. Němcová, J. Neruda) and the first half of the 20th century (K. Čapek, V. Vančura, but also J. Foglar). The study shows that metalepsis has many different forms in Czech literature, the spread of which was significantly related to the development of the Czech language and the development of narrative modes.
