El número de checos y eslovacos en Argentina (en su mayoría de la segunda y tercera generación de expatriados) actualmente alcanza a cerca de 30. 000 personas, lo que hace de esta Colectividad una de las comunidades checas más grandes del mundo. A pesarde este hecho, la cuestión de los exiliados checos en este país sudamericano ha quedado durante muchos a?os fuera del interés de los académicos. El trabajo analiza las razones de este desinterés, describe la dinámica del desarrollo de la comunidad y refleja quince testimonios orales realizados en 2012 y 2013 con los expatriados checos en Argentina (incluyendo a la ya casi desaparecida generación de ciudadanos checoslovacos que inmigraron a Argentina en los a?os 30).

The estimated number of Czechs and Slovaks (former Czechoslovaks) in Argentina, mostly members of the second and third generation of expatriates, is 30 000, making the Colectividad in Argentina one of the largest Czech communities around the globe. Despite this fact, the issue of Czech exiles in this South American country has for many years stood at the periphery of academic interest. The paper analyzes the reasons for this state of disinterest, it describes the dynamics of development of the exile community and it reflects oral testimonies given in 2012 and 2013 by fifteen expatriates in Argentina (including the already vanishing generation of Czechoslovak citizens who immigrated to Argentina in 1930s).
