From Regular Armies to Irregular Resistence (and Back)
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The chapter is part of a publication focused on the transnational perspective of the resistance movement against fascism during the Second World War. The text is aimed at those fighters who joined the ranks of regular armies for some time during the war. The authors focus on their perception of the environment of regular armies, their clashes with a rigid military environment and strong nationalism. They notice a number of other aspects, including the motivation of fighters to enter or leave the army. Regular armies were mostly unwilling to use previous experience of the fighters, for example from the Spanish Civil War. The almost only exception there were various special forces. On the contrary, training, knowledge and experience from the regular armies and frontline battles were often crucial for the resistance movement, especially in their emerging phase.
