Název v původním jazyce
The Failure of Czechoslovakism as a State-Civic Concept. National Minorities in the Army, 1918-1945
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The clash of two doctrinal theories, i.e. of Czechoslovakism as an expression of a Czech (and only to a certain extent Czechoslovak) dominance, and a possible supranational form of Czechoslovakism as a civic principle of a completely equal coexistence of all citizens, formed one of the main problems of the First Republic and, subsequently, of the exile during World War II. The study utilizes the specifics of the army environment, in which various aspects of the national issue, which can otherwise remain hidden, are more pronounced and clearer. Apart from other things, the study demonstrates that the fundamental distrust of (not only) nonSlavic minorities was not a phenomenon that came to live only with arrival of Nazism or as a result of the Munich Agreement and occupation. To the contrary, it had formed an invariable factor of the Czechoslovak Army since its very beginning.
