The study build upon large and expanding volume of knowledge accumulated by art historians on the topic of panel housing estates in post-war Czechoslovakia. It exapnds the theme by studying closely the interaction beween he Communist Party and the architects exploring the complex and often paradoxical relationship between the world of politics and the world of expertise. It focuses in particular on the role of panel housing estates in the context of „material pacification“ in the post-1968 period.
