Der Beitrag untersucht die Kritik an der liberalen Wirtschaftspolitik in der Tschechoslowakei zwischen 1990 und 1993. Im Zentrum stehen Intellektuelle, Parteien und Bewegungen, die kapitalistische Restauration ablehnten oder alternative Transformationswege entwarfen. Diskutiert werden die radikale Linke (Levá alternativa), die Union selbstverwalteter Betriebe sowie Reformkonzepte von Vanek, Zelený und Ota Šik. Auch die Kommunistische Partei versuchte, sich programmatisch neu zu positionieren. Die Analyse zeigt, dass diese Ansätze zwar innovative Modelle betrieblicher Demokratie und Mitbestimmung entwickelten, jedoch politisch marginal blieben. Damit offenbart der Beitrag die Vielfalt kapitalismuskritischer Alternativen im frühen Postkommunismus und ihr Scheitern gegenüber dem dominanten Wirtschaftsliberalismus.

The article examines critiques of liberal economic policy in Czechoslovakia between 1990 and 1993. It focuses on intellectuals, parties, and movements that either rejected capitalist restoration or proposed alternative transformation paths. Discussed are the radical left (Levá alternativa), the Union of Self-Managed Enterprises, as well as reform concepts by Vanek, Zelený, and Ota Šik. The Communist Party’s attempts at programmatic repositioning are also considered. The analysis shows that, although these approaches developed innovative models of workplace democracy and participation, they remained politically marginal. The article thus highlights the diversity of anti-capitalist alternatives in early post-communism and their failure against dominant economic liberalism.
