With the view to make steel bridge structures more competitive, it is indispensable to look for some ways such as to reduce the price of their fabrication, an important role in this striving being played by the possibility to reduce , at least to a certain extend, the costly straightening of the initial curvature of the webs of steel plated girders. For this reason an extensive analysis of the effect of various configurations and magnitudes of initial dishing of the webs of steel plate girders on theirlimit state is carried out, and some conclusions in regard to the aforesaid question are drawn.
