The on-line HM database is a newly developed computer based system for collection, archivation and comparison of material properties of historic mortars. The database is user-oriented allowing addition and management of the user?s own data, as well as, using the data of the other registered users according to the set access privileges. It is designed for international collaboration and sharing knowledge among professionals and researchers involved in the field of historic material characterisation and testing. The structure of the database, the relevant parameters and methods of their determination included in the database were selected based on the state-of-the-art knowledge in the historic mortars characterisation and experience with application of the analytical data in research and practical conservation of historic buildings.
