Modern analytical techniques have revolutionized the study of historical paintings, enabling the identification of minerals used as pigments, including those previously unrecognized. In the early 16thcentury decoration of the chancel vault in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary filial church in Chotków (Lubuskie Voivodeship, Żagań County, Brzeźnica Municipality), vanadinite, Pb5(VO4)3Cl – lead (II) chloroorthovanadate (V), has been identified in the yellow foliage motifs. This discovery marks the first documented occurrence of vanadinite in Polish artworks.n
