Measurement of Hydraulic Properties in Heterogeneous Soil Close to Saturation
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The infiltration outflow experiments were performed in laboratory on large undisturbed soil samples, under conditions close to saturation. The experiments were conducted using an automated experimental set-up, where the inflow and outflow water flux densities, tensiometers readings and the sample weight changes were recorded. The sample was imaged by means of computer tomography (CT). Dye tracer experiment with Brilliant Blue was performed at the end. The regions with the lower brightness represent a higher dye tracer concentration. Dye tracer experiment showed high degree of channeled flow within the sample. 1-D dual permeability numerical simulations were performed. The experimental data, measured on Hupselse Beek fine sand, were used as the reference. The comparison of CT and dye tracer images, of the both soil types, showed clear need for advanced approach in prediction of the unsaturated hydraulic parameters of highly heterogeneous soils.
