Evaluation of Experimental Concepts Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Laboratory experiments on undisturbed soil cores are an invaluable source of information in the field of soil hydraulics. In the current study the infiltration-outflow experiments were continuously scanned by the magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Inflow, outflow and important pressures were recorded by the data acquisition system. Three soil cores of coarse sandy loam soil (Korkusova Hut, Czech Republic) were studied. The imaging involved the vertical 2D projection of rapid changes during transient partsof an experiment. Horizontal 2D imaging was performed across the whole sample volume during the steady state and the equilibrium stages. MR properties of studied soil allow visualizing water in large pores. As the result, the MR images were obtained together with the hydraulic and mass balance measurements. In analyzed experiments, the MR signal distribution changes appeared to be higher in the upper part of the sample, as the result of the change in the upper boundary condition. Based.
