The article deals with problem of material model parameters identification. The method based on genetic algorithm is presented as a convenient tool for such type of problem. The described method takes its roots in differential evolution and several improvements were made to obtain a reliable and powerful tool. The new approach which is based on the fact that the algorithm is applied in one cycle on itself is presented in order to set up the inner constants of algorithm for faster and more reliable convergence. An example of visco-plastic model and experimental data are used to test the algorithm.
