The first steps in the work plan of the FLAMIS project and in the scope of activities of CTU in the framework of the 1st phase of the project were to collect all necessary data for the 1D and 2D modeling. For the study areas in the Lužnice watershed, some existing data suitable for 1D modeling was available, however, the data was rather old - especially for the Lužnice river. This data had to be supplemented by land surveys and by a large amount of new topographical and geodetic data acquired from aerial photographs. Planning for numerical modeling and the structure of the numerical models to be used in the subsequent phase of the project (preparation of a conceptual model) required a detailed analysis of the flow conditions of the flood in August 2002. Available calibration data was also collected as a part of this preparatory work. Finally, a preliminary 1D model of the Lužnice river was created, debugged and roughly calibrated.
