Evaluation of Recuperation Heat Exchangers Based on Exergy Analisys of Heat Flows

Two different types of air-to-air heat exchangers are evaluated due to the method based on exergy analysis of heat flows. The analysis proceeds exergy balance of heat flows occurring during heat transfer in the exchanger. The heat flow exergy is definedas a function of air temperature, moisture content and specific enthalpy. For each exchanger is assessed exergy efficiency of heat transfer from cooled to heated air, exergy efficiency of heat utilisation from cooled air and total exergy efficiency. Thetemperature efficiency is also specified for comparison. The evaluation of heat exchanger is presented as exergy efficiency as a function of inlet air temperature different. The input data were obtained from laboratory measure of crossflow heat exchangerand gravitational tube heat exchanger. Both were run under the conditions of equal and different air rates of cooled and heated air.
