We studied a small urban stream affected by two reservoirs in order to determine changes in the benthic community structure (BCS) and in the drift, distances upon which they manifest themselves and the role of the reservoir size. Immediately below the large Hostivar Reservoir no cased Trichoptera, Gastropoda or Coleoptera were found, whereas lentic species (Daphnidae, Cyclopidae, Hydrida or Ostracoda) appeared. Ratio of gatherers increased to 60% due to the detritus supply from bottom outlets and was decreasing further downstream. 1 km below the reservoirs recovery of the BCS was incomplete (Hostivar Reservoir) or partial (small Rybarstvi Reservoir), the renewal of the drift density and rate was full but the composition of the drifting community has not re-established.
