The aim of the paper is to inform the scientific community about the possibility of the use of mesoindentation testing technique as a tool for investigation of properties of building materials (of concrete, in particular). This method originates from theprinciple of the indentation methods in which a standardized indenter is impressed into the structure of investigated material. The paper is focused on assessment of hardness (not the only characteristic that can be derived from indentation testing technique). Two types of concrete are investigated in the paper, whose quality is dependent on the location of the indentation site. In the first type, the specimens were taken from a concrete that was part of an industrial floor whose surface layer was reinforced using a dry cementitious powder. In the second type, the concrete, in which the properties varied due to the technology of the production process with the distance from the top surface of the specimens, was investigated.
