Automatic Calibration of Electronic Distance Meters

This project is aimed at programming of automatic system of surveying instruments calibration. In the year 2008 there was renovated in laboratory of geodesy old horizontal bench and on this platform was built up brand new 20 meters long horizontal rail.This linear motion system is a ground of automatic horizontal comparator. It is supposed to be used for calibration of steel tapes (using manual microscope reading or digital camera image processing), leveling staff and also for system calibration of digital levels and electronic distance meters. For precise results of geodetic measurements it is needed to realize and control regularly eventual systematic errors of measured distance. Parallel measurement of examined distance meter and laser interferometer (as length standard) detects these errors called length deviation. New software connecting laser interferometer, electronic distance meter, step motor and processing core is output of the supported project.
