Research on the Validity and Comparability of Norwegian Rock Mass Classification Systems for the Monitoring of Underground Gas Storage
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
A whole raft of recent research into gas storage in underground areas and various geological formations indicates that significant uncertainties still exist with regard to the specific storage systems proposed and the overriding necessity for the detection of leakages and gas migration. The focus of any research in this area has to be on the development of sustainable solutions both as regards storage itself and the monitoring/prediction time development of the long term stability and integrity of the surrounding rock mass and its function as a natural barrier to gas leakage. The project concerns the monitoring of rock gas permeability around underground disposal bins containing hazardous substances and gases, including CO2. One of the ways in which toresearch rock gas permeability is to use the Norwegian classification system that also assesses the rock massif on the basis of parameters characterizing discontinuity interfaces.
