Temporal analysis of vegetation changes in Ore Mountains (Black trianhle, Czech Republic) by using remote sensing

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

Vegetation condition is a sensitive indicator of an environmental quality. Generally one can say, that there is a mutual interaction triangle among area economics, vegetation and nature (meteorological and climate conditions). If a fragile relationship among those aspects is broken vegetation is the first one to feel the consequences. The Ore Mountains are a long ridge located on north-western part of the Czech Republic. It is well known for its mining and processing of ore since the Middle Ages. This industry was very demanding on timber. During past centuries original mixed forests were copped down and fast growing spruce (picea excelsa) was planted to satisfy the need of the industry. These woods are weak in higher altitudes and susceptible to roughweather conditions. This is where the deforestation began. In 20th century brown coal basins were discovered in the area and became to be widely used as a fuel in local thermal power plants. The top of this economic activity came in late
