Measuring of Hydraulic Conductivity and Swelling Pressure under Very High Hydraulic Gradients
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The concept of a deep geological repository for high-level waste in the Czech Republic is based on disposal in a granite environment, it will be necessary to construct a barrier between the rock and the canister; swelling clay (bentonite) with or withoutadditives has been chosen as the most suitable material for such barrier. Between the most important geotechnical properties of bentonite according to requirements on this barrier belong: low hydraulic conductivity and high swelling pressure. Measuringof these parameters take long time for such a low permeable materials. This study focuses on the impact of using high hydraulic gradients in combined tests for hydraulic conductivity and swelling pressure. The main reasons why to study this problematic is possible change of pore water pressure in deep repository due to changes in the environment and speeding up of testing of these parameters. Results show possible impact of hydraulic gradient to hydraulic conductivity and swelling pressu
