This paper presents and describes the method of data collection in the interdisciplinary research project in progress at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of Czech Technical University in Prague. The project deals with the analysis of selected environmental factors and their impact on spatial, qualitative and functional shaping of urban space. The aim of this paper is to describe the methods and procedures for collecting and processing field data and the intention of their usage. Methodology and selection of data monitored is subject to the nature of  the research. Subject of research are three specific environmental factors: sound environment, socio-cultural environment and transport urban space. The objects of research are urban spaces in culturally different regions of Europe. Article goes on describing the expected outputs and following processing. Finally, the chosen methodology is compared with research methodologies in similar contexts.
