Land Survey Office in cooperation with the Military Geographical and Hydrometeorological Office have been producing the Orthophoto of the Czech Republic since 2003. The Orthophoto of the Czech Republic serves for ensuring of a state defense and ensuringof an integrated crisis management It is also designed to a civilian tasks of state administration and local self-government of the Czech Republic. Since 2009 it has been one of the fundamental Czech Republic data sets published pursuant INSPIRE directive The product represents a periodicly updated set of digital colour orthophotos covering the whole area of the Czech Republic. Within past years some changes of technology and technical parameters have occured. The most significant changeovers arose in 2010. Analogue aerial photography was replaced by recording image data with a digital aerial camera and a more precise digital terrain model from airborne laser scanning data has been used for orthorectification.
