INTERACTION OF NON-METALLIC MEMBRANES AND STEEL STRUCTURE

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

The newly developed materials, mainly based on plastic and high strength steel, led in the second half of 20th century to build new, interesting and remarkable buildings, called as membrane structures or tensostructures. These structures are very light in comparison with their span, they are strained only by tension and have to be curved. Due to tensile straining the relatively high strength is fully utilized for transfer of loadings. Coated fabrics are usually used as the material for membrane structures. They are connected to the primary steel structure mainly by keder rails or steel ropes. Despite the widespread use of these structures nowadays, complex analysis including interaction between supporting steel structure and own membrane structures isnot fully explored. Primary steel elements are often spatially stabilized by membrane, but this synergy is not fully utilized. Large scale test of roofing of a concert stage with massive outer steel arch from circular tube and inner suppo
