Experimental study of influence of various materials on photocatalytic properties of concrete surfaces
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Various materials providing photocatalytic properties to concrete surfaces are available on the market. In most cases, they exploit titanium dioxide (TiO2) particles. Photocatalytic cement containing titanium dioxide nanoparticles (N-TiO2) can be used, special paintings with TiO2 can be applied on concrete facades or pavements. This study was focused on evaluation of a new approach of application of N-TiO2 to concrete structures. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) nanotextile containing N-TiO2 was prepared by electrospinning method. Specimens made from ordinary white cement with no TiO2 particles, specimens made from commercially available photocatalytic cement and specimens with the nanotextile on the surface were compared with respect to their ability to decompose rhodamine B dye when exposed to direct UV radiation. The new solution was not found to be prospective in this phase of the research. However, the method of preparation of enriched nanotextiles as well as their application on the surfa
