Testing of Measurement Accuracy of the Total Stations

Verification of measurement accuracy of surveying instruments is a very important ability of each surveyor and it is one of very important presumptions for guaranteeing a high quality of the measured data. Field procedures for testing geodetic and surveying instruments are one of the verification possibilities. The procedures are carried out according to the ISO 17123-2 international standard. Our department of special geodesy obtained two sets of the total stations in the recent years. The first set contained six TOPCON GPT 7501 total stations and the second set contained six Trimble M3 total stations. Accuracy field tests according ISO 17123-3 were carried out with all the instruments of both sets. Czech state long distances measuring standard - distance geodetic base at the Koštice and national angle base Židovské pece were used for this measurement as well. The article describes the procedure of testing these total stations and shows the achieved results.
