Multiscale Testing, Modeling and Design of Fiber-Reinforced Lime-Based Mortars
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This thesis deals with the development of lime-based mortar reinforced with fibers that would be suitable for maintenance and restoration works on historical structures and monuments. Application of the mortar is intended in places, where the failures of the structure occur due to imposed deformations (e.g. due to temperature volume changes), to mechanically exposed details and other structural elements. The goal is to systematically design the microstructure of the composite mortar, so that, under tensile strains damage does not localize into one crack as in conventional mortars. Instead, due to fiber reinforcement the mortar exhibits strain-hardening response and cracking in the form of large amount of fine cracks distributed in the whole volume of the exposed material. From a macroscopic point of view, the mortar would retain its integrity, which is important not only for the durability of the repair, but also for its aesthetical look. The multiscale model was used both for description of the behavior and also for experimental research and numerical modeling. Based on the investigation of individual components, the final mix composition of two types of mortars were optimized and proposed, which were used for preparation of specimens for further experimental research. They were used not only for investigation of behavior of individual cracks, but also for research of behavior of the whole mortar, which was focused especially on mechanical properties and testing of durability. Finally, the mortars were tested in situ on selected objects and using laboratory investigation, the interaction of the mortars with masonry was clarified.
