Drying and Shrinkage of Large Concrete Specimens
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The paper deals with experimental investigation of drying and shrinkage of concrete in large concrete specimens. The segments of walls of the thickness 200 mm, 400 mm and 800 mm were cast. Four sides were sealed so that the drying of the infinite walls of different thicknesses could be simulated and the size effect could be captured. The relative pore humidity is measured in different distances from the surface of individual walls. 4 vibrating wire strain gauges are embedded inside the elements which measure strains in horizontal and vertical directions. The relative pore humidity and the strains have been recorded for the period of 1 year. The segments of the walls are stored in a laboratory. Relative humidity and temperature of the environment could not be controlled; they are recorded very closely. Additional tests on laboratory specimens have been executed. The experiments have pointed out the necessity to measure strains in concrete from the early-age.
