Round robin tests of bituminous binders in the Czech Republic

The new generation of European standards for bituminous binders will be more oriented on performance related (functional) characteristics. The product specifications have to be moved from the harmonised European standards norms to national requirements at the same time. Long-term experience with the practical use with the determinate requirements have been missing and due to that European wide data collection has been organized over several years. It is expected, that such data will be used for first set of input values in the standards. Round robin tests on different paving grade and polymer modified bituminous binders were realised in the Czech Republic during last three years. This project was supported by SFDI and ŘSD and gave the opportunity to be more specific with the frame of different assessment conditions from all available bituminous binders, which will establish one base for comparison of different binders in the future. In this relation the precondition for the broader and more intensive data collection within the Czech Republic has been established. This collection of data is going to be realized during the following 5 years.
