Utilization of concrete slurry waste in gypsum based composites

  • Popis výsledku v původním jazyce

The reduction of carbon dioxide emissions become the global effort of entire scientific community. Various environmental friendly technologies are currently developed and also applied worldwide. The concrete is the most used building material on Earth and its production is still rising. Its production is related to huge emissions of carbon dioxide due to Portland cement production and generation of waste such as concrete slurry waste (CSW). Sedimented CSW contains considerable amount of cement, calcium and fine fillers, which could be efficiently reuse for the formulation of new composites. This paper deals with the utilization of two types of CSW, which was applied for the modification of the gypsum. Studied CSW were applied as partial replacement of the gypsum. The replacement by CSW was combined with the fly ash as well to reduce the content of Portlandite. Studied mixtures were studied in terms of their mechanical properties and bulk density. Performed experimental program confirmed, that CSW is suitable for the application in gypsum based composites. The replacement by 5 wt.% led to the increase of mechanical performance by 10 %.
