Performance Evaluation of Simplified Infiltration Models Under Changing Initial Conditions for Event-Based Hydrological Models
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This study evaluates the performance of Green-Ampt and Philip infiltration models using recently (2022) developed Czech soil properties maps and existing pedotransfer functions. The aim was to compare the routing of infiltration during extreme precipitation events in the context of climate change. The parameters of the Mualem-van Genuchten model were derived from the soil properties using UN-SODA and EU-HYDI pedotransfer functions, and the hydraulic conductivity was estimated using a HYPRES database. The parameters for the Green-Ampt and Philip models were obtained using analytical procedures and fitting infiltration curves, respectively. The performance of the models was evaluated using the Richards equation simulated by the HYDRUS1D model for a simple rainfall scenario and four initial conditions. The study highlights the importance of accurate estimation of soil properties, hydraulic conductivity, and choice of source soil properties database in hydrological modelling and provides insight into the suitability of simplified infiltration models for predicting soil water dynamics. This study has been supported by Grant of Technology Agency of the Czech Republic CK04000144 and CTU Student Grant Competition SGS23/155/OHK1/3T/11
