Temperature monitoring in massive concrete structures
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Development of heat of hydration in massive structures can be a cause of high absolute temperatures in the structure and/or of large temperature differencies in individual parts of the structural element. The high absolute temperature can be unfavourable because of late ettringite formation and the follow-ing damage of concrete. Large differences of temperatures in the structural element result in internal stresses, which can exceed the tensile strength of concrete and result in cracking. Therefore, it is nec-essary to pay attention to the temperature development in massive concrete structutres. The paper describes an extensive experimental program of temperature monitoring in massive concrete structures, where different concrete mixes and different cements are used. The results are evaluated from the view of final properties of concrete and from the view of production possibilities and technol-ogy of construction. Some results are also compared with results of a numerical analysis. In conclu-sions, recommendations for design of concrete mixes are formulated.
