Design of thermoelectric geopolymer composite with carbonaceous admixture
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Demands of various engineering fields for materials with new application potential can be satisfied by a tailored design of so-called smart or multifunctional materials. The main attention in the field of construction is currently concentrated especially on the design of multifunctional composites allowing the self-heating, self-sensing or energy harvesting functions which are crucially dependent on well-balanced electrical/thermoelectric properties. The Seebeck coefficient is together with other material parameters (thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity) an important indicator for the evaluation of materials’ thermoelectric energy harvesting potential. The paper is focused on material characterization of the designed metashale geopolymer with 5 wt. % of graphite powder (GP) in the sense of mechanical, electrical, and thermoelectric properties. Thermoelectric conversion efficiency of the dry composite was evaluated by the figure of merit indicator (ZT = 3.54x10-3) which was calculated with respect to the experimentally determined Seebeck coefficient (34.3 mV.K-1), thermal conductivity (λ = 0.97 W.m-1.K-1), and electrical conductivity (σ = 9.76x10-3 S.m-1).
