    Achieving climate-neutral buildings across their lifecycle—encompassing construction, operation, renovation, and disposal—requires addressing embodied emissions and promoting sustainable practices in the building sector. Key measures include supporting building material manufacturers in implementing eco-friendly processes, mandating the reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, and establishing a comprehensive database for building materials. However, the Czech Republic currently lacks a national strategy for assessing building environmental impacts, hindered by limited access to Whole Life Cycle (WLC) assessment data, insufficient market incentives, and institutional capacity constraints. This study, conducted within the INDICATE project, investigates barriers to implementing WLC assessment in buildings and proposes solutions to facilitate its widespread adoption. The paper explores stakeholder engagement in the Czech construction sector to facilitate the adoption of WLC assessment methodologies, supporting the implementation of the newest Energy Performance of Buildings Directive through roundtables and workshops and collaborative interpretation to refine the results. The findings identify challenges such as time-intensive and costly LCA processes, variability in results due to inconsistent datasets, and the absence of a national methodological framework for preparing LCA inputs derived from stakeholders’ feedback and iteration. The study emphasizes the need for a national LCA tool, professional training, and stakeholder collaboration to ensure practical relevance and adoption. This research highlights the importance of stakeholder-centric approaches in promoting sustainable practices and offers a replicable framework for advancing LCA integration in building design and policymaking, with initiatives such as a national LCA database and optimization tools being essential next steps.
