Highly concentrated fine-grained suspensions behave differently in comparison with low-concentrated suspensions or suspensions with bigger particles. Regarding the difference in flow properties, mixing equipment must be designed differently for both types of suspension. There exists enough information in a literature about designing of mixing equipment for suspensions with bigger particles or low concentration of solid phase. In case of highly concentrated fine-grained suspensions, the literature is notso rich. In this work some conclusions presented in recent works of the authors are summarized and upon the results of these works, recommendations for designing of mixing equipment for highly concentrated fine-grained suspension are presented. The design recommendations are focused on selection of impeller type, its size and also positioning in suspensions. The effect of baffles on suspension process is also discussed.
