Analysis of the Internal Structure of Vein
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
This paper presents a structural model of human vena cava inferior based on histomorfometrical analysis of internal structure of components within vein wall. Dominant directions of collagen were investigated in histological sections from media and adventitia layer of the vein. Sections were analyzed by in-house developed software BinaryDirections and ambiguous situations were evaluated by an expert. Digital images were converted to binary pixel maps with collagen fibers enhanced. Software, BinaryDirections, employs an algorithm of the rotation line segment to determine significant directions in digital images. It was found that media is very thin, but bundles of collagen fibers are much plentifully organized than in adventitia. Their orientation was contrary to the orientation in the adventitia purely circumferential. The histological model of the vein was proposed on these findings. In contrast to elastic artery, no evidence of helically reinforced composite structure was found.
