The paper deals with the design of transmission shafts for the ducted fan power unit suitable for ultra lightweight airplanes. The designed versions of the transmission shaft have identical geometric dimensions, but different characteristics. These versions of the transmission shaft have been tested and compared to each other from the point of view of technology, cost of production, weight, stiffness, strength and stability.
