Use of biomass indirect dryer in power and heating plants

Options of integration of a biomass indirect dryer heated by low potential heat into the cycles of steam power plant and hot water heating plant are presented in this paper. In comparison with other drying methods the designed solutions are energy savingand enable the effective utilization of waste steam heat to a significant increase the efficiency of these facilities. For selected operation of plants, the marginal investment cost for purchase of biomass indirect dryer including additional equipment and its integration into the plants are calculated. The resulting values of these marginal investment costs demonstrate the economic potential for realization of this drying method in biomass power and heating plants, which significantly increases with increasing proportion of heat utilization from waste vapor.
