Advanced oxidation processes for decomposition of non-biodegradable organic chemicals in waste water
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Chemical resistant organic compounds as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, hormones which are present in municipal and industrial wastewater pose a threat to an environment and human or animal healthy. A lot of problems occur in treatment processes of wastewater and biological treatment due to their toxicity and resistivity to biodegradation. The aim of this work is the study of application of the synergistic effects of various advanced oxidation processes (AOP) in waste water treatment. Decomposition of various non-biodegradable organic chemicals e.g. dyes, pharmaceuticals, endocrine-disrupting chemicals was tested using application of deposited photocatalytic thin films in combination with atmospheric plasma discharge (Gliding arc) or UV radiation. The relations between different photocatalytic active materials, different AOP activation (plasma, UV) and their synergistic effect were investigated. It was observed that AOP system is able to decompose various non-biodegradable chemicals.
